Work with me

I thrive on working with changemakers to tell impactful stories as a video director and producer and oral historian. Whether video or audio-based work, my process facilitates the space for individuals and communities to meaningfully reflect and powerfully communicate where they have been, share their nuanced experiences at present, and explore their vision for the future. I am particularly passionate about sharing stories that forge new connections, new ways of seeing and being in the world, and help connect people to the environment.

If you are looking for a thoughtful, reliable collaborator to help you more deeply understand and better tell your stories through video, audio or coaching, I’d love to connect.

  • My community or organization has a powerful story to tell. We’re looking for someone with the sensitivity, experience and storytelling ethics to tell it in a way that supports connection, healing and growth.

  • I have a powerful idea I want to share but I have a hard time expressing it succinctly and powerfully so that it can travel to new audiences, and create yet greater impact.

  • I want to work with someone who practices deep listening and honors the work that my community/organization and I do, while also bringing their expertise, experience and ideas to the table.

Oral History

  • I work with an organization, group or social movement with a rich history that no one has ever taken the time to document directly from the voices and memories  of those who made it what it is.

  • I’m part of or work with a community or group of people whose story has not been explored, told, understood, or valued deeply enough. I want to document our story so that it’s not forgotten, and so that future generations can learn from us.

  • I have an older family member, colleague or mentor whose story I want to capture before it’s too late.

  • I want to honor the people in my group, organization or community by capturing their life stories.

Storytelling Trainings & Coaching

  • I’m a social entrepreneur or changemaker with big ideas and a big impact, but I have a hard time communicating my work in a way that is accessible, compelling, unforgettable.

  • I work with an organization or foundation that supports innovative leaders but they struggle to tell their stories in ways that do their ideas justice, garners support and scales their work. I want to help them to communicate their ideas more powerfully.

  • In order to achieve impact in the issues that I care about, I need and want to know learn about tactics and tools of storytelling and how to intentionally utilize them.

  • I am uncertain about my story, and/or how to express it in a way that is clear and allows people to understand who I am and how to work with me. I want support in understanding myself and my story as I take the next steps in my path. I want one-on-one story coaching.

“Working with Maggie Lemere has been one of the greatest experiences in my Smithsonian career. She is conducting oral histories of our National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) colleagues in order to collect their voices, memories, and histories of working with our extraordinary collections. Maggie has conducted 58 interviews with a diverse group of individuals including, curators, collections specialists, facility managers, scientific illustrators, and exhibition specialists. Her sensitivity, kindness, and positive attitude makes all our colleagues feel comfortable and willing to speak about their careers and experiences (good and bad). Even the quietest and shyest individuals opened up with Maggie and looked forward to follow up interviews. Maggie approaches our Oral History Project with flexibility, calmness, and humor – all necessary traits when working with our active museum. Her personal and professional strengths ensure our project will truly capture the insights and experiences of the people who built, maintain, and use our NMNH collections.”
